Last Chemo MONDAY

Hello All
I just wanted to share with you that tomorrow will be my last chemo. I am trip negative with a modified radical left mastectomy after having a lumpectomy back in March 2009. I can not believe the journey this has been. I was treated with A/C x4 and Taxol x12. The AC was horrible, it made me very sick and after treatment #3 I had to be put in the hospital for rehydration. I have done well with the Taxol. I think by treatment #8 I started with some numbness in my fingers. But now I have numbess in my fingers and toes and my hands are swollen along with my feet up to my knees. I did loose my hair and currently have toddler hair. LOL. I am so glad to have this chapter of my life coming to an end. Good Luck to all of you that are currently going through this, it is possible to see the light and come out on top!! Keep ur head up :)

Getting close

Well I had my 10th Taxol treatment on Monday, and all went well. I have 2 treatments left and I can't wait to have my Mondays back!!!! I'm sure my parents will be ready too, so they can head South for the winter. We have a big Chicago trip coming up on Saturday that my friend has planned with some of her great co workers at OSU. I am really excited about going, since I have never seen Chicago. It will be a long trip, but enough excitement to keep us all going. Just like the great support from family, friends, co workers and many other people who have kept me going and in good spirits during this long 7 month process. It has been a major life style change.

1/2 way through Taxol

Well today was #6 and it went pretty well. My port was not behaving, they couldn't get any blood from it, but IVF ran OK. They had to stick me twice for blood, and by the grace of God she got enough blood to run the blood test. All labs looked good!

OK I have been taking the Taxol treatments and feel that I have been doing very well. I have completed 5 Taxol treatments and I have 7 more to go. I am on a mission and have God along side of me! During the AC treatments I felt I was becoming very weak. I felt that this cancer beast was getting the best of me. I was loosing my grasp on who was going to win. You just don't know what kind of fight you are in until you are in for your life. Thank God I have alot of supporters and people praying for me. I believe this is what helped keep my head out of the toilet and not to give up.

I am so thankful for my parents who had to come home from Florida early in March and start this horrible journey with me. They BOTH have been with me at each treatment, they have seen their daughter at her absolute worst.

MY hubby and 3 awesome children have seen me at me worst and sometimes I feel, "On my death bed." This will be a time that I will always remember and I will often wonder "why me?"

Wow it has been a long time since I have updated the blog : ( I guess that goes to tell ya, that the A/C has been horrible for me. I have been very sick after each treatment. The 3rd treatment I was sick 8 days until I went into the hospital to be rehydrated and stay the night. But once I bounce back, I feel normal!!!

I am going to bake some ginger cookies today with the kids and hope that it will whored off all evil!!!

Returning to work

OK it is 6 AM and I'm sitting here at work. I am so grateful that I was able to return to work and pick up where I left off. My co workers are great and have been a big help to me and making me comfortable upon returning to work! This is a start of something good again!

Yesterday I went for the last bit of staples to be removed!! YEAH. The Dr also had to drain some extra fluid, but that was no biggy, since I am still numb. I go to the oncologist on April 20th. Can't wait to hear what he has to say.

Follow up from Surgery

Today I went to the Surgeon to have a follow up from surgery. My L breast has accumulated fluid in it, so he had to drain it. Interesting!!! The PATH report was back and Ihad 1 lymph node out of 6 come back with cancer. The margins from the tissue removed were 4mm all around except 1 area that was only 1mm. NOT MUCH. So really the margins were not clear. Dr Spier suggested another lumpectomy or mastectomy. Wow here we go again. Also found out that I was HER2 (-) PR (-) and ER (-). Typically called Triple NEGATIVE.

I decided to have a L modified radical mastectomy.

L Lumpectomy surgery w/ Lymph node removal

Today I had the surgery. I have staples in my arm pit and the upper portion of my L breast. The surgeon says he took a baseball size amount of tissue from my breast and of course lymph nodes. Now its time to heal.

Meeting with the Surgeon

Today I met w/ Dr Spier my surgeon. HE talked to me about lumpectomy and mastectomy. L mastectomy or bilateral mastectomy. WOW, my head started to spin. One gone? Possible 2 gone? WHAT...that is not normal. Do I really have cancer? Is this really happening to me?? WAKE UP!

OK, so I decided to go for a lumpectomy, so I can still look "SOME WHAT" normal.

Friday 13th March

Today at 10:15 Dr Osborne called to tell me that the biopsy was IDC grade 3. I immedietely started searching the internet. Finding out that grade 3 was an aggresive growing cell. I HAVE CANCER. WHAT? Nobody in my family has breast cancer, WHY ME? Hows come, I have to be the choosen one? I am young, 37 years old. I have 3 children...Logan 11, McKenzie 8 turning 9 in 4 days and Alivia Jane just turned 7. My husband and I have been married 11 years and have shared alot of great times together. Camping with the kids, Disney World twice, amusement parks, waterparks etc. How can all of this possibly come to an end? Will I see 40?

Mammogram and Ultrasound

Today I went for my Mammogram and Ultrasound of the L breast. Not thinking anything of it. Had plans to go shopping after this was done. BUT the Dr comes in and says to me "Shell it looks cancerous." I just sat there and looked at him as the tears fill me eyes. But not wanting to cry, I held them back. Then he proceeds to tell me that he want to biopsy the lump TODAY. SO I made that appointment, call my friend Laura and told her the terrible news. Came home and told my husband, who thought I was kidding. BOY, I wish that I was kidding. But no this nightmare is real.

Feb 20, 2009

I went to my OB GYN today and told him about the PAINFUL lump in my left breast. He told me that he has felt several cancerous tumors and after feeling mine, he felt that I was safe. BUT a mammogram and ultra sound would be a safe bet. Also in the mean time, try Vit E 400u.
